NOMINATIONS BEING ACCEPTED FOR THE BIG ISLAND SPORTS HALL OF FAME

August 9, 2018

Media Release

The Big Island Sports Hall of Fame is accepting nominees for the 2018 class of the Big Island Sports Hall of Fame.

Formed in early 90’s by the late Jack Matsui, the non-profit BISHOF was established to honor the athletic achievements and contributions that have positively impacted the participants and sport for which they were nominated, and to promote and support athletics and sporting events on Hawai’i Island.

BISHOF President, Jerry Chang said “It’s important that we recognize Hawai’i Island athletes that have represented our island and state with honor, dignity and pride.  This year the Board of Directors amended the qualification guidelines to include applicants who have gained sufficient local, area, state, national and international recognition and achievement in the amateur and professional ranks.”

Applications can be picked up and dropped off or mailed to Ellsworth Custom Cycles, 969 Kinoole Street, Hilo, or call 935 5519 to request an application be sent to you.  Applications are downloadable from the BISHOF website: www.bishof.org

All nominees must be at least 35 years of age on or before December 31, 2018.

All applications must be received no later than Friday, September 28, 2018 in order to be considered.

Recipients will be inducted on November 4, with the unveiling of their photo on the BISHOF wall in the Prince Kuhio Plaza near the theater ticket booth.  An awards luncheon will follow at Nani Mau Gardens at 12:00 noon.
